Privacy Policy
This policy explains which personal data VeganTakeaway.com processes, why, and what rights you have. You can browse the site without giving us your name or an account.
Who is responsible
The controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Mussie Haile, Guiding-Ventures, Lohmühlenstraße 65, 12435 Berlin, Germany. Email: [email protected].
Visiting the website
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA). To deliver pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser's technical details. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be processed in the USA, where Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
All photos, fonts and scripts needed to display the site are served from our own domain.
Cookies and your choices
We ask for your choice in a banner and keep it in your browser's local storage so we don't ask again. This is necessary to provide the service you requested (§ 25(2) TDDDG). Anything else below only runs with your consent (§ 25(1) TDDDG, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
You can change your choice or withdraw your consent at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawal doesn't affect processing that took place before it. We do not use marketing cookies.
Google Analytics (with consent)
If you choose "Accept All", we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to understand how visitors use the site. It sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) that last up to two years and records pages viewed, approximate location and device details. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. See Google's Privacy Policy. If you choose "Necessary Only", Google Analytics is not loaded. If you withdraw consent, we stop it and delete its cookies from your browser.
OpenStreetMap maps (with consent)
Maps are provided by OpenStreetMap, operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. A map only loads if you choose "Accept All" or click "Show map". Your browser then requests map images from the provider, which receives your IP address, your browser's details and our website's address. No cookies are set. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
The United Kingdom is covered by an EU adequacy decision, and map images are delivered through a global network of servers. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation's Privacy Policy.
Submitting a restaurant
The form asks for restaurant details and, optionally, a phone number, website and your email address. Anything else you type, including any names, is also sent. We use this to review the submission, reply to you if you gave an address, and possibly publish the listing. The legal basis is your consent, given with the checkbox on the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You don't have to submit anything, but without these details we can't review a restaurant.
Your submission is handled by a Cloudflare Worker, which emails it to our inbox. Cloudflare also uses your IP address briefly to limit how many submissions can be sent, which protects the form from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). No other company receives it. The Cloudflare details under "Visiting the website" apply.
If a restaurant is listed, its name, address, phone number, website, hours and description are published as business information. Your email address is never published. We delete other submission data once it's no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
Contacting us by email
Email to [email protected] passes through Cloudflare's email routing service and is forwarded to our inbox. We use your message and address to reply. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your message relates to a contract. We delete messages once they're dealt with, unless we must keep them by law.
Links to other websites
Restaurant website links and the "Get Directions" button (Google Maps) open other services. Nothing is sent to them until you click, after which their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access your personal data (Art. 15)
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16)
- have your data deleted (Art. 17)
- restrict processing (Art. 18)
- receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21)
- withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7(3))
To use these rights, email [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Ours is the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
Automated decisions
We don't use automated decision-making or profiling that has legal effects for you.
Changes to this policy
